Last week we visited the Costa Del Sol in Spain for a little holiday. Before we went we had planned to visit Olivia’s La Cala which is owned by Elliot Wright from The Only Way Is Essex. I had heard so many good reviews about this place, from the food, entertainment, staff and the venue in general. We were not disappointed and loved it so much we went again two nights later. The location is beautiful, right on La Cala beach. It’s very glam and everyone is dressed up but they welcome people of all ages. I didn’t find it at all stuffy or intimidating, I just felt very welcome and relaxed from the minute we were greeted at the entrance.
The decor is just stunning, the website describe the colour scheme as ‘soft sandy colours and natural beach themed greys and lilacs’ – It’s like a Shabby Store show room. I love the big, plush dining seats they had. The staff could not have been more attentive and friendly and nothing was too much, we liked that we were remembered when we went back the second night. The menu includes a variety of dishes from around the world, from good old fashioned but trendy pub food to Japanese Sushi, and pretty much everything in between. They have gone with the very modern concept that all dishes can be shared. So not your traditional starters, main and desert but more dishes that can shared if you wish (or eaten just by you if you want haha!) Mitch and I shared the Olivia’s Pate before we both had the Galician Fillet beef which was served on a bed of Mediterranean vegetables and we got twice cooked chips on the side. Mitch likes his steak blue and struggles at restaurants to get it properly blue, here it was just how he liked it. I ordered mine rare and it was beautiful. We loved it so much we both had it again on the second night. We also shared a Gambas Pil Pil which was amazing, if you like prawns, garlic and chili you should definitely try gambas pil pil if you visit Spain. We had it almost every day that week!!! The wine list is extensive so you will definitely find something for everyone. If you like cocktails try their Passionfruit Mojito.
They have live music every night and a DJ on after till late, you are welcome to get up and dance the night away if you wish or sit down and chill if that’s more for you. The atmosphere is great and later on the dance floor is always full, like I said earlier children are more than welcome. They play a variety of music and I guarantee there will be at least one song that makes you want to get up and dance.
If you fancy going, make sure you book in advanced as they are always busy, you can book online here. They offer breakfast and lunch too if you don’t want to have dinner there, but if you are in the area you must definitely try to get there – even if just for a drink. I certainly cannot wait to go back already.
Thanks for reading.
